Backyard Skills: Terrariums
Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (PST)
San Juan Capistrano, CA
A terrarium is a self-contained ecosystem, designed to mimic a particular habitat. In a sealed glass terrarium, humidity rises and causes moisture to move up through the soil and gather on the walls. This condensation then drips back into the soil, watering the plants which contributes to the humidity in their cycle of oxygen creation. Join us and design your own live-in ecosystem with a terrarium. Learn about plant selection, planting, design, placement materials, caring and maintenance techniques. All participants will take home a terrarium.
Grab a glass container and grow your own! A terrarium is a great way to enjoy the outdoors - indoors. Admire and share how a healthy eco-system with healthy plants functions in sync. Plus, plants and materials used are generally small, so they won’t cost much, and glass containers can be found just about anywhere. With a terrarium, you can add an outdoor element to your indoor space with little maintenance, while adding life and love into your healthy home.
Course fee: $10 members, $15 non-members plus materials fee* to take a terrarium home with you.
*Materials fee ($10+) is dependent on type of container and number of plants chosen at the class.
